Department of Health Announces Children's Art
 
Governor Tom Wolf proclaimed November 16 through November 22 'Get Smart about Antibiotics Week' in Pennsylvania to raise awareness of antibiotic resistance and the importance of using antibiotics responsibly. In recognition of the week, the Pennsylvania Department of Health joined Pennsylvania's Get Smart program to host a statewide art competition open to children aged 12 and under.

Auditor General DePasquale Says School Districts, IUs Have Borrowed More than $346 Million Because of State Budget Impasse
 
Auditor General Eugene DePasquale today said that through September, the prolonged state budget impasse forced at least 17 school districts and two intermediate units to borrow more than $346 million to meet expenses and keep classrooms open. Interest and fees on those borrowed education dollars could reach $11.2 million.

Auditor General DePasquale Says Borrowing by School Districts, IUs Now at Least $431 Million Because of State Budget Impasse
 
With the state's budget impasse entering its fourth month, Auditor General Eugene DePasquale today said that the stalemate has now prompted an additional 10 school districts to borrow $85 million, bringing to the total borrowed to date to $431 million. Interest and fees on the money borrowed to date could potentially reach $14 million.
