Pa. Turnpike Celebrates Final Service Plaza Makeover with Valley Forge Ribbon Cutting
 
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) announced that another service plaza has been renovated and reopened for business. A ribbon-cutting event in Chester County today not only commemorated the reopening of the Valley Forge Service Plaza, it also marked the completion of the last of 17 Turnpike rest stops to be modernized under a public-private partnership begun nearly a decade ago.

Pennsylvania Launches Online Voter Registration to Increase Efficiency and Offer Convenience
 
Governor Tom Wolf and Secretary of State Pedro Cortes today announced that Pennsylvania is the latest state to launch the convenient option of registering online to vote. The online registration application, hosted by the Department of State, is now available for use by eligible citizens at register.votesPA.com.

Wolf Administration Announces Nanticoke is Ready to Terminate Distressed Status Becoming the First City to Exit Act 47
 
Harrisburg, PA - Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Secretary Dennis Davin announced today that the City of Nanticoke's status as a distressed municipality under Act 47 is terminated. Nanticoke is the first city and tenth municipality to exit the program.

Governor Wolf Announces All CHIP Plans Will Provide Enhanced Benefits to Meet Affordable Care Act Requirements
 
Governor Tom Wolf today announced all CHIP health insurance plans will provide enhanced benefits to meet the minimum essential coverage requirements of the federal Affordable Care Act. These added benefits will begin when new CHIP policies take effect December 1. This means no family will have to worry about paying a penalty or getting new insurance now that the entire program is meeting the requirements, regardless of whether Washington, D.C. decides to make changes to their standards again.

Economic Impacts of Farmers Markets and Agritourism Highlighted during 'Jobs that Pay' Event
 
In recognition of August as Produce Month, Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding joined other state and local officials yesterday for the official opening of the Adams County Farm Fresh Market's new location. Throughout the commonwealth, there are more than 1,000 farmers markets and stands creating jobs and putting money back into the local economy.

DEP Releases Latest Revisions of Oil and Gas Rulemaking
 
The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) today announced the draft final revisions to the 'Environmental Protection Performance Standards at Oil and Gas Well Sites' rulemaking (Chapters 78 and 78a). This revision continues DEP's commitment to modernizing and strengthening the environmental controls employed by both the conventional and unconventional industries to assure the protection of public health, safety and the environment.

Pa. Turnpike Celebrates 75th Anniversary with Car Show this Weekend
 
The Pa. Turnpike Commission (PTC) held a car show at the Sideling Hill Service Plaza in Fulton County for car owners and Turnpike travelers alike. The show was held to celebrate the upcoming 75th anniversary of the opening of the historic Pennsylvania Turnpike - 'America's First Superhighway' - on Oct. 1, 1940.

Health Secretary Announces Formation of Nursing Home Quality Improvement Task Force, Other Improvements to Facility Oversight
 
Harrisburg, PA - Secretary of Health Karen Murphy today announced the formation of a nursing home task force and discussed other initiatives launched since allegations of inadequate care in 14 nursing homes operated by Golden Senior Living between 2008 and 2014 were identified in a lawsuit filed by Attorney General Kathleen Kane last month.
