Pennsylvania State Prison Population Records Largest Decrease in 40 Years
 
Harrisburg, PA - Governor Tom Wolf and Corrections Secretary John Wetzel announced today that Pennsylvania's state inmate population decreased by nearly 850 inmates in 2015, which represents the greatest one-year decline in population over the last 40 years. Today's announcement is the capstone to a year of accomplishment for the system under Governor Wolf's leadership. DOC has made smart population and recidivism reduction as well as creating efficiencies to save taxpayer dollars even greater priorities.

Free Flu Vaccines and 'Hands-Only' CPR Demonstrations Offered by Department of Health during Pennsylvania's 100th Farm Show
 
Harrisburg, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Health is providing free influenza vaccinations and 'Hands-Only' CPR demonstrations during the state's 100th Farm Show. No appointments are needed to receive the flu vaccines, which will be available, while supplies last, January 9-15 from 10 AM to 6 PM and on January 16 from 10 AM to 5 PM. The 'Hands-Only' CPR demonstrations will occur daily.

Pennsylvania Residents Urged to Test Homes for Radon
 
Harrisburg, PA - The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) today urged all Pennsylvanians to test their homes for radon, a deadly radioactive gas that's the leading cause of lung cancer in non- smokers in the United States. DEP also urged residents to take action to reduce radon levels in their homes if they are high.
