PA Turnpike Unveils Signs in New 70 MPH Zone
 
Pennsylvania moved ahead with steps to make travel more efficient today as the Pa. Turnpike activated its 70 mph speed limit from Blue Mountain (Interchange 201) to Morgantown (Interchange 298) and PennDOT announced it will launch 70 mph pilot projects on a pair of interstates next month.

State Police Acquire Two Bell Helicopters to Help Replace Aging Fleet
 
The Pennsylvania State Police today took delivery of the first two of six Bell 407GX helicopters. The new helicopters will be used for airborne law enforcement patrol and operations to enhance service to the citizens of the commonwealth.

Auditor General Eugene DePasquale today said that a recent audit shows that the meteoric growth of the shale gas industry caught the Department of Environmental Protection unprepared to effectively administer laws and regulations to protect drinking water and unable to efficiently respond to citizen complaints.

Governor Corbett Signs 2014-15 Budget and Fiscal Code, Vetoes Specific Legislative Appropriations and Places Legislative Spending Initiatives into Budgetary Reserves
 
Governor Tom Corbett today signed House Bill 2328, the 2014-15 state budget, and House Bill 278, the 2014-15 Fiscal Code. Concerned with the revenue assumptions used by the House and Senate in crafting their budget, the governor chose to use his line- item veto authority to reduce spending and ensure the state was meeting revenue estimates.

Following the June 1 death of a Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission worker in a work-zone crash and reports of public vehicles entering work zones or narrowly missing workers, PennDOT and the commission today called on drivers to use caution and obey laws in work zones.

Governor Corbett Updates Press on Budget Review
