Governor Tom Corbett announced today that for the second year in a row, Pennsylvania was awarded a prestigious 2013 Silver Shovel Award by Area Development magazine for excellence in U.S. state economic development. The awards recognize states with the most significant industrial groundbreakings or expansions each year.

Governor Corbett Breaks Ground on Marcellus Shale Power Plant That Will Contribute Nearly $6 Billion to Local Economy; Expected to Power 1 Million U.S. Homes With Clean Energy
 
Governor Tom Corbett today broke ground on the Panda Liberty project, an 829-megawatt natural-gas fueled power plant in Asylum Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. The plant is expected to power up to 1 million homes in the Northeast with clean energy and will create and support nearly 600 jobs in the local community.
