PennDOT Issuing Free Department of State Voter ID Cards at Driver Licensing Centers
 
Since the Pennsylvania Voter ID law was enacted in March, PennDOT has been working closely with the Department of State to ensure that every voter has the opportunity to obtain photo identification. Starting today in Pittsburgh and statewide on Aug. 28, voters who lack verification documents necessary for a secure Pennsylvania Photo ID (non-driver's license ID card), will be able to obtain a new Department of State voter identification card for free by visiting a PennDOT Driver License Center.

Treasurer McCord: Save for College with PA 529 Plan before Higher Tuition Rates Take Effect September 1
 
Pennsylvanians concerned with the rising cost of higher education have about a week-and-a-half to get the most out of their college savings dollar, said State Treasurer Rob McCord today as he urged families to contribute to a Pennsylvania 529 Guaranteed Savings Plan before August 31 in order to take advantage of lower credit rates.

Governor Tom Corbett joined Pennsylvania Turnpike Commissioners, elected officials and other dignitaries this morning in cutting a ribbon to formally celebrate the opening of the Mon/Fayette Expressway's Uniontown-to-Brownsville Phase-2 project. The event took place on a new, half-mile signature bridge over the Monongahela River near the Washington County/Fayette County line.
