Governor Corbett Signs Bill to Strengthen Teen Driver Safety and Training
 
Governor Tom Corbett today signed House Bill 9, also known as "Lacey's Law," which will help junior drivers receive more comprehensive training, limit the number of passengers that junior drivers may carry, and make failing to wear a seatbelt a primary offense for junior drivers and passengers.

First Lady Susan Corbett welcomed dozens of Harrisburg children to the Governor's Residence today to celebrate the Halloween season with a pumpkin decorating contest. The children, grades K-5 attend the after-school program at the Neighborhood Center of the United Methodist Church. The Center is located just a few blocks from the Governor's Residence in Harrisburg. It has been serving the Harrisburg community since 1910.

A 270-pound pumpkin donated by the Bargo Family, of Port Royal, Juniata County, arriving at the Governor's Residence in Harrisburg. First Lady Susan Corbett greeted the family as they delivered the pumpkin on Tuesday afternoon.

Attorney General Linda Kelly today announced that agents from the Attorney General's Bureau of Narcotics Investigation along with local police have filed criminal charges against 20 people accused of participating in a $100,000 per month crack cocaine distribution ring allegedly operating from three locations in Coatesville, Chester County.

First Lady Susan Corbett joined the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition at the State Capitol in Harrisburg today to mark the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Each year, The War Veteran's Memorial Fountain at the Capitol is dyed pink for the month of October to remind the public of the importance of early detection and treatment for breast cancer. Mrs. Corbett spoke about her mother who fought breast cancer and is now a survivor at the age of 92. She reminded everyone of the importance of getting a mammogram since early detection of breast cancer is key to survival.
