Governor Rendell Reminds Northeast Residents, Businesses: Only 10 Days Left to Save on Penalties, Interest on Back Taxes; Amnesty Ends June 18
 
Tax delinquents have only 10 days left to take advantage of PA's Tax Amnesty program, which waives all penalties and half the interest for anyone who pays delinquent Pennsylvania taxes by June 18, Governor Edward G. Rendell said today.

DEP Orders EOG Resources to Halt All Natural Gas Drilling in PA
 
The Department of Environmental Protection today ordered EOG Resources Inc. to suspend its natural gas well drilling activities in Pennsylvania after a June 3 blowout at one of the company's Clearfield County wells sent natural gas and at least 35,000 gallons of drilling wastewater into the sky and over the ground for 16 hours.

Pa. Turnpike Opens First No-Idle, Clean-Air Facility
 
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) had a ribbon cutting ceremony earlier today to mark the opening of a Truck Stop Electrification (TSE) facility at its New Stanton Service Plaza at milepost 77.6 off the westbound lanes of I-76 in Westmoreland County.

PA Tax Amnesty to Offer Additional Customer Service Hours in Final Weeks
 
Revenue Secretary C. Daniel Hassell today announced the PA Tax Amnesty hotline - 1-877-34-PAYUP - will offer additional customer service hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, June 5 and 12, and Revenue agents will be available to answer calls to the hotline until midnight June 18, when PA Tax Amnesty ends.

Pennsylvania's Stimulus Accountability Office today released a series of radio public service announcements created to let Pennsylvania's citizens know more about Recovery Act investments in Pennsylvania. The PSAs also remind citizens to visit the Recovery Act website, www.recovery.pa.gov, which is updated almost daily with news and information about investments, projects, workshops, and other items.

Settlement reached with BlueGreen Corp.
 
The Attorney General's Bureau of Consumer Protection has reached a settlement with Florida-based BlueGreen Corporation that addresses complaints about the company's alleged use of deceptive "contests," misleading sales presentations and improper contracts in the marketing and sale of timeshare vacation packages in Pennsylvania.
