Department of Health Announces Children's Art Competition Winners Contest Recognizes 'Get Smart about Antibiotics Week,' November 16-22
 
Harrisburg, PA-Governor Tom Wolf proclaimed November 16 through November 22 'Get Smart about Antibiotics Week' in Pennsylvania to raise awareness of antibiotic resistance and the importance of using antibiotics responsibly. In recognition of the week, the Pennsylvania Department of Health joined Pennsylvania's Get Smart program to host a statewide art competition open to children aged 12 and under.

Auditor General DePasquale Says Borrowing by School Districts, IUs Now at Least $431 Million Because of State Budget Impasse
 
HARRISBURG - With the state's budget impasse entering its fourth month, Auditor General Eugene DePasquale today said that the stalemate has now prompted an additional 10 school districts to borrow $85 million, bringing to the total borrowed to date to $431 million. Interest and fees on the money borrowed to date could potentially reach $14 million.

Governor Wolf Announces Naloxone Standing Order to Combat Heroin Epidemic
 
Harrisburg, PA - Governor Tom Wolf today continued his 'Government That Works' Tour and announced a significant step forward in his administration's fight against the heroin epidemic in Pennsylvania. Governor Wolf stood with Physician General Dr. Rachel Levine at the Pennsylvania Medical Society as Dr. Levine signed a statewide standing order for naloxone, a medication that can reverse an overdose that is caused by an opioid drug. The governor was also joined by Secretary Ted Dallas, Secretary Gary Tennis, Secretary Karen Murphy, and Chairman Josh Shapiro.

HARRISBURG - Auditor General Eugene DePasquale said his recent performance audits of the Pennsylvania Department of Education show the department did not provide adequate assistance to 561 academically challenged schools with 310,000 students enrolled.
