Harrisburg - Former York County Representative Eugene DePasquale became the commonwealth's 51st Auditor General in a ceremony at noon today in the State Museum of Pennsylvania. His wife Tracey presented the certificate of election before State Supreme Court Justice Debra Todd administered the oath of office.

Corrections to Save $23 Million by Replacing Two Older Prisons
 
Department of Corrections Secretary John Wetzel today announced that the agency will replace two older state prisons by opening the newly-constructed State Correctional Institution at Benner Township - a move that will save taxpayers $23 million in fiscal year 2013-14 and more in future years.

Corbett Administration Reduces DCED Interest Rates to Spark Economic Growth and Job Creation
 
Harrisburg - To address a key recommendation of the Governor's Manufacturing Advisory Council (GMAC) the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) today announced that it has reduced the interest rates of five business loan programs to encourage new economic growth and job creation. "Governor Tom Corbett's pro-growth policies are leading to resurgence in manufacturing in Pennsylvania," DCED Secretary C. Alan Walker said. "This new initiative makes a bold statement that Pennsylvania is committed to growing our businesses, promoting job creation, and improving the economic base of our communities."

Harrisburg - Governor Tom Corbett today opened the 97th Pennsylvania Farm Show by welcoming visitors to celebrate the state's agriculture industry. "Pennsylvania has a rich agricultural tradition, and the Pennsylvania Farm Show honors our oldest and largest industry," Corbett said. "There are almost 13 million people in Pennsylvania, and every one of them depends on 62,000 farm families. To all of our farmers, thank you."

1,000-Pound Butter Sculpture Showcasing Local Agriculture Products Unveiled at 2013 PA Farm Show
 
A sculpture made from nearly 1,000 pounds of butter was unveiled today at the Pennsylvania Farm Show, paying tribute to Pennsylvania's diverse agriculture industry. The sculpture, sponsored by Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association and Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program, features PA Preferred, the official brand of agriculture products grown or made in Pennsylvania.
