Governor Corbett, along with Legislators and Education and Business Leaders, Discuss Passport for Learning Block Grant Program
 
Harrisburg - Governor Tom Corbett, joined by members of the General Assembly, along with education and business leaders, talked today about reinvesting proceeds from the sale of the state liquor store system into an educational block grant for Pennsylvania's schools. This Passport for Learning Block Grant is in addition to Corbett's proposed $90 million increase in the upcoming budget's Basic Education Funding line item. This year's proposed $5.5 billion state investment is the highest in state history.

Harrisburg - Governor Tom Corbett today highlighted his $3 million budget proposal to fund the Rising STARS initiative, which targets resources to support quality early child care and learning, specifically for at-risk children. The event was held at Crispus Attucks Early Learning Center, a Keystone STARS 4-star rated child care facility in York.

Top Veterinary School Thanks Governor Corbett for Maintaining Funding, Investing in Animal Health and Agriculture
 
Kennett Square - Governor Tom Corbett, joined by leaders of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, announced today that the proposed 2013-14 budget will maintain funding for the school's nationally renowned veterinary education and research. The proposed budget will provide level funding for the state's only veterinary institution, including $27.8 million for veterinary activities and $248,000 to the Center for Infectious Diseases.

Harrisburg - The state Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) celebrated its 20th year of providing coverage today by announcing that $8.5 million in funding will be proposed in Governor Corbett's 2013-14 budget to focus on expanding the number of insured children in Pennsylvania. CHIP has provided quality health care coverage to more than one million children in Pennsylvania since benefits and coverage began in 1993.
