Governor Corbett Announces Winners of School Fitness Centers Contest
 
Governor Tom Corbett today announced that three Pennsylvania schools have been chosen as a National Champion School by the National Foundation for Governors' Fitness Councils. The schools will receive new, state-of-the-art, Live Positively fitness centers at no cost to the schools or taxpayers.

Pa. Turnpike's New South Somerset Service Plaza to Open May 7
 
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) opened the newly constructed South Somerset Service Plaza to travelers at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, May 7. The plaza - along with the Cumberland Valley (formerly Plainfield) and Blue Mountain Plazas in Cumberland County - was closed just after Labor Day 2011 to facilitate complete reconstruction. All three plazas will be open next week in time for the Memorial Day weekend.

PA Turnpike Officials Encourage Motorists to Decelerate and Concentrate in Work Areas
 
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is making historic investments in roadway improvements this spring and summer, and that means near record levels of construction and maintenance activity across the 545-mile system of toll roads. As a result, Turnpike leaders are hitting the highway during National Work-Zone Awareness Week (April 23-27) with a simple message: Slow down and pay attention in work zones.

The measure, now Act 2 of 2012, updated several measures within the Local Option Small Games of Chance Act, including prize payout limits.
