Governor Corbett says Flooding Impacts will Continue. Urges Public to Heed Safety Warnings, Stay Away From Floodwaters
 
Governor Tom Corbett tonight said that the state is now in the rescue phase of the developing flooding disaster, and assured residents of central and eastern Pennsylvania that all state agencies, including State Police, the National Guard and the governor's Cabinet are fully focused on this situation.

Governor Corbett Joins State Police Commissioner and Lt. Col. Oliver North in Ceremony Honoring Troopers' Military Service
 
Governor Tom Corbett today joined State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan and retired U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Oliver North at a ceremony recognizing the military service of state police personnel. The ceremony, the first of its kind in Pennsylvania, honored more than 300 members of the State Police who have also served in the U.S. Armed Forces since the terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

Governor Tom Corbett today toured several areas of northeastern Pennsylvania that were impacted by Hurricane Irene. From the air, he viewed the town of Forkston, Wyoming County, which was evacuated as a result of flooding. He also flew over Mehoopany Creek.

Corbett urges all Pennsylvanians to use caution during the storm. Pennsylvania anticipates severe flooding in Southeastern PA, the Lehigh Valley, Northeastern PA and Central PA. The governor is also reminding citizens that flooding could come several days after Hurricane Irene due to water flowing into Pa rivers from New York.
