Governor Tom Corbett Tours Northeastern Pennsylvania to See Wake of Hurricane Irene
 
Governor Tom Corbett today toured several areas of northeastern Pennsylvania that were impacted by Hurricane Irene. From the air, he viewed the town of Forkston, Wyoming County, which was evacuated as a result of flooding. He also flew over Mehoopany Creek.

Speaking from Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency headquarters in Harrisburg this afternoon, Governor Tom Corbett held a briefing to give an update on the statewide impact and damage resulting from Hurricane Irene. The storm's worst impact was felt in eastern Pennsylvania.

Gov. Corbett is joined by Lt. Gov. Jim Cawley and Pennsylvania Emergency Management Director Glenn Cannon at PEMA Headquarters in Harrisburg. Gov. Corbett urges all Pennsylvanians to use caution during the storm. Pennsylvania anticipates severe flooding in Southeastern PA, the Lehigh Valley, Northeastern PA and Central PA. The governor is also reminding citizens that flooding could come several days after Hurricane Irene due to water flowing into Pa rivers from New York.

Governor Tom Corbett today launched a two-day kayak tour of the Susquehanna River through central Pennsylvania to promote the state's vast natural resources and recreational opportunities. The governor set off this morning from the Sweigarts Island Boat Access in Paxton. He'll talk with residents and visit local attractions during the trip.
