February 10, 2026 - Dickson City, PA
Governor Josh Shapiro and Pennsylvania State Fire Commissioner Thomas Cook will thank first responders for their heroic work and quick action last week during a massive fire at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Dickson City and highlight the Shapiro Administration's investments to support fire departments across the Commonwealth. Since taking office, the Shapiro Administration has awarded over $100 million in statewide grants to support volunteer and career fire companies, emergency medical services, and rescue squads. Governor Shapiro's 2026-27 proposed budget builds on this investment, proposing an additional $30 million to support recruitment, retention, and capital needs for volunteer and professional fire companies across Pennsylvania.
