March 19, 2026 - Harrisburg, PA
The Pennsylvania Insurance Department (PID) and the Department of Health (DOH) will highlight Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month by reminding Pennsylvanians about the importance of annual health screenings and utilizing the free preventive services available through their insurance. Colorectal cancer is the fourth most common cancer in new cases and the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S., according to the Department of Health. It is now recommended that adults begin colonoscopy screenings at age 45. This new recommendation closely follows recently released data that showed a rise in colorectal cancer in younger adults.
