ADVISORY - Shapiro Administration Highlights Land Redevelopment Project, Stresses Need for Continued HSCA Funding

Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Secretary Jessica Shirley will recognize the success of an Act 2 Land Recycling Program project in the City of Williamsport, turning a former landfill into a new regional sports tourism destination. DEP's technical review was supported by staff funded through the Hazardous Sites Cleanup Act (HSCA).

DEP's HSCA program provides a means of addressing releases of hazardous substances that pose a threat to human health and the environment. Governor Josh Shapiro has proposed a one-time, $20 million transfer to HSCA in his 2026-2027 budget..
