PHEAA Hosted a Media Briefing to Highlight Alarming Drop in FAFSA Submissions in Pennsylvania

State Senator Wayne D. Fontana, Vice Chair of the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) Board of Directors, hosted a media briefing with PHEAA experts on the urgent need for students and families to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) as soon as possible to qualify for student aid funding.

Nearly 31,000 fewer Pennsylvania students, representing a 10.4 percent decline, have submitted the 2022-23 FAFSA since it became available last October. The FAFSA is the free federal form that must be completed for students to be considered for federal and state student aid, including the need-based PA State Grant Program, which is administered by PHEAA.

Sen. Fontana was joined by Elizabeth McCloud, PHEAA VP of State Grant & Special Programs and William Lindsey, PHEAA PA School Services Manager.
