The 8th Annual Army vs. Navy Cook-Off took place on Military Appreciation Day at the 108th PA Farm Show. The event is a cooking competition presented in collaboration between PA Preferred and Comcast NBCUniversal. In celebration of this day, we honor active, reserve and retired service members by conducting an "Iron Chef" style culinary competition, involving CS3 Chassidy Chisholm from the United States Navy and SSG BreAuna Delpesche from the Army Executive Dining Facility (AREDF), United States Army, as well as local media personalities - Ali Lanyon and Dan Tomaso from abc27, as well as Joe Calhoun and Christine Ferreira from WGAL Channel 8. A four-person judging panel will evaluate the final dishes, including Barry Crumlich, Executive Chef - PA Governor's Residence; John Moeller, former White House Chef and Author of "Dining at the White House - From the President's Table to Yours''; Jason Rohrs, Special Command Aide Program Manager Office of the Commandant, United States Coast Guard and Carlos Cuoto, Director, Comcast NBCUniversal Military and Veteran Affairs. SSG BreAuna Delpesche from the Army Executive Dining Facility (AREDF), United States Army and her team of local media personalities - Ali Lanyon and Dan Tomaso from abc27, took the blue ribbon. Veteran Farmers donated product for the blind blins, including Paul MacNamara from St. Ann's Cattle company (providing the wagyu beef) and David McCoy from Cedar Ridge Highlands (providing PA grown garlic). All ingredients in the blind bin were made or grown in Pennsylvania.
