Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt held the third in a series of daily media briefings leading up to the Nov. 5 general election."Nonpartisan election officials are doing their jobs all across Pennsylvania and - together with law enforcement - they're working to ensure we have a free, fair, safe and secure election," Schmidt said. "There are safeguards built into the election administration process at every step to identify any efforts to undermine election integrity."The multiple safeguards range from verifying that every person who applies to register to vote is eligible to vote and ensuring that only registered voters are able to vote on Election Day to conducting two post-election audits of the results, Schmidt said.
