The Department of State began Pennsylvania's statewide risk-limiting election audit (RLA) of the May 19, 2026, primary election."RLAs remain the highest standard of comprehensive election audits because the process provides a statistically sound, scientific method for confirming that the reported outcome of the election is accurate," Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt said. "This is our eighth statewide risk-limiting audit, and we have the utmost confidence in RLAs and the integrity of Pennsylvania elections."Ten Department employees took turns rolling 10-sided dice to generate a random 20-digit number, which is used to identify which batches of ballots counties will audit over the next several days.
